On Friday night, March 20th, gyms in Florida got the mandate we all knew was coming for a while. I’ve seen a lot businesses, gyms included, post that they are ‘CLOSED.’
Well, I’m here to tell you we are NOT closed. We are still offering the same service that we have since the first day we opened, just in a different format.
We are here to provide coaching, period. We haven’t missed a day delivering that service in our 8+ years of operation and that won’t change.
We’ve actually been providing remote coaching to clients this whole time. That made the adoption of this plan an afterthought for our staff; we already had the infrastructure in place. You know the saying: “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” At CrossFit For Glory, we’d already been executing on the plan!
On top of that, more than a dozen of our regular group attendees made the decision to self-quarantine more than a week ago and we got them pivoted directly to our Remote Coaching Program. Guess what? They are LOVING it. And most importantly, they are continuing to take positive steps toward their goals of improving their health and fitness. (If you are reading this from afar and want more details on how you can be a part of this no matter where you are, just let us know!)
In addition, I’ve been on the front lines with more than 600 gyms across the world and we’ve seen what works and what doesn’t – its not pointing someone to a pdf of at-home workouts from your favorite Instagram influencer or telling someone to log into your member software app and saying ‘ok, go get after it and give us a digital high-five.’ That is not coaching.
Rather, it is the 1-1 relationship that you have with your coach, who will say “I chose this specific workout for you because I know your goal is X and this is how this particular workout will get you there.” A coach knows where you are starting from today, where you want to go, and what the best next step is to get you there.
If you missed the email that went out last night, let us know asap! Otherwise, fill out that questionnaire and have your phone nearby for your coach to be calling you!!!!
There is so much that we have to be thankful for during this time of crisis. I detailed a lot of this in the private Town Hall meeting that we did for our members Friday night. But the part that is worth mentioning publicly is this:
What we know –
Without support and accountability, we fall back.
Without community engagement, we become isolated.
Without a sense of normalcy, we absorb more stress.
Without a lighthouse, things go dark and we lose our direction.
What else we know –
With a grateful heart, we experience joy.
With supportive friends, we discover the value of community.
With coaches that care, we remain consistent.
And with trust in a larger purpose, we can live with faith.
We are CrossFit For Glory, we make it through this together.
We will not just survive this, we will THRIVE in this.
