Paleo Everything! 1/17/14

Ok, I hate to do this, I hate to potentially wreck your world.
But the time has come for me to shatter a few dreams.
You are officially on notice – STOP trying to “Paleofy” everything! 
What does that mean? Paleofy is a term I use to describe the phenomenon where people who are on a Paleo nutrition challenge take any of their favorite foods that are basically off-limits for this 30-day challenge and simply put ‘paleo’ in front of it, make it with ‘paleo-approved’ ingredients, and then enjoy it. Over and over and over and over.
Still don’t get it? Here are a few examples:
Paleo Pizza
Paleo Cookies
Paleo Cheesecake
Paleo Brownies
Sure, it doesn’t have normal flour. Or sugar. Or dairy. Or [insert other junk food item here].
But what are you really doing for yourself?
The point of this challenge is to learn how to eat REAL food and reap the benefits of them.
Now, before I go off on a tangent, take a minute to read and really digest (see what I did there?) this one that someone else already took the time to put together.
Then, read this.
Get it?
Eat real food. If you’re going to indulge in a ‘Paleo-treat,’ do so sparingly, if at all. Remember, we’re trying to cultivate a lifestyle that is sustainable over a lifetime, not just 30 days.
Does this post mean I have to return the ‘paleo cheesecake’ that someone left for me?
