The Spirit of CrossFit

There are many moments at the gym that make us proud as coaches.  One of my favorites is when an athlete has left everything out on the floor and completed a hard WOD.
But then what warms my heart is when that athlete gets up and cheers on, encourages, or even better, runs with another athlete to help them through.  I was so proud of the two athletes that showed up for the bitter cold 6:30 am WOD on Thursday. Michael and Manny were the only ones brave enough to face the cold and run laps around the feed store with a below freezing wind chill!
Michael finished his WOD well below the time cap.  Manny was struggling after missing a box jump and hitting his shin.
As a coach, I tried to encourage him to push through and keep going, but at that point, I could see the frustration on his face.  In sweeps Michael to save the day!  Not only through encouraging words, but also by actually running his laps with him, he pushed Manny to keep working up until the time cap.  I was so proud of both of them for the perseverance and heart that they both showed.
Many state that the spirit of CrossFit comes from the community and I could not agree more!  This is one of the many examples of why I love the CrossFit For Glory community so much!
